Charley Kabenji has been practicing Barefoot Shiatsu in Southwest Ohio for over 30 years. His focus is on integrating body work with natural healthy living.

Shiatsu is a Japanese word which means finger pressure. It describes a form of massage which is based on the circulation of energy. Shiatsu is also referred to as acupressure or acupuncture without needles.

Shiatsu relaxes mind and body restores and balances energy, eases tension and stiffness, improves breathing, improves posture, improves circulation and over all well-being.

Too much or tool little energy in the meridians causes discomfort and illness. Health is therefore a state in which energy flows free and steady much like a regular yoga practitioner will experience.

Shiatsu requires no special tools massage table or oils, and the recipient remains clothed. Shiatsu uses fingers, palms, elbows and knees to apply pressure to the body. Barefoot Shiatsu makes extensive use of feet to apply pressure.

While Barefoot Shiatsu and Macrobiotic Shiatsu remain the focus of his work, he has integrated aspects of Thai Massage and other techniques in his sessions.

Charlie has been a personal friend and I have been a Shiatsu recipient of over 30 years. I can attest to the value of Charlies’ Shiatsu in balancing the body and promoting health. Charley continues to grow and develop in new areas and provide the some of best shiatsu in the country. We are lucky to have him in the area and here at Avenues to Wellness.

At a minimum I recommend Shiatsu twice a year spring and fall to balance for the seasons.

Raindrop Therapy:

Raindrop Therapy is based on the theory that many types of scoliosis and spinal mis-alignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine. These pathogens create inflammation, which in turn, contorts and disfigures the spinal column resulting in weaken body systems. Raindrop therapy enables you to restore balance and normal function to weak body systems, and promotes harmony of the whole person: physically, mentally and emotionally.

Just like the blood gives our body life, essential oils are the life of plants. They can have healing effects on the body, especially the ones that are specifically chosen for this technique. When applied to the body, the oils are absorbed into the skin and travel down through the dermis levels into the interstitial fluids. They are helpful in fighting bacteria and viruses that travel through the body. Essential oils also stimulate the nerves and the re-growth of tissue. Essential oils have also been known to improve the immune system.

The Raindrop Technique, uses high quality, pure, organic, therapeutic-grade essential oils which are dispensed like little drops of rain from a height of about six inches above the back, mixed with a variety of very lightly massage techniques along the vertebrae and back muscles, Vita Flex massage and a warm compress application. The technique is designed to bring the body back into structural and electrical alignment. Often many types of spinal problems and mis-alignments are caused by toxins that lie dormant within the spine. The use of therapeutic-grade essential oils helps to dispose of these viruses within the spine, helping its structure return to normal.
